Course consists of 2 portions - Lecture & Clinical
Lecture - online (pre-work to be completed prior to attending in-person portion)
Clinical - in person on the date you register for
REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASS - please review prior to registering:
You will be required to bring in 2 of your own patients for the clinical portion that meet the following criteria (we cannot provide patients for you):
has had a cleaning in past 6 months
has all adult dentition
cannot be missing more than 1 tooth per quadrant
You will be required to bring your own slow speed hand piece
If you do not have your own, you can rent one from us for a $75 fee (inquire for more info)
All other equipment, instruments and disposables are provided for by Tooth Fairy Systems
REQUIRED PREREQUISITES as of January 1, 2025:
Dental Board approved 8hr Infection Control certification
Current and valid Basic Life Support certification (must be obtained by an approved provider, see details below)
You must provide copies of your Infection Control & BLS/CPR certifications prior to taking this class as they are required for patient care. This is per the new requirements of the Dental Board of California (see senate bill 1453). Please direct any questions regarding this new requirement to the Dental Board.
We recommend Santa Clara County Dental Society for these courses but you can find other approved providers on the Dental Board website.
For BLS/CPR: must be through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, the American Safety and Health Institute, the American Dental Association’s Continuing Education Provider Recognition (CERP) program, or the Academy of General Dentistry’s Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE).

IMPORTANT INFO:
Candidates for this course should have experience working in a dental office and be familiar with terminology and equipment.
Valid until January 1, 2025: Unlicensed Dental Assistants cannot perform Coronal Polishing, so the certificate issued with this course is not valid until the candidate obtains their RDA license from the DBC (Licensed Dental Assistant = RDA, Unlicensed Dental Assistant = DA)
